OEA asks UNSC to end occupation of Eritrean territory and lift sanctions

The Organization of Eritrean Americans (OEA), in a statement, has asked the UN Security Council (UNSC) to shoulder its responsibilities and force the minority regime ruling Ethiopia today to comply with international law and the UN Charter.

An Open Letter: Here is Another Fake Story for the SEMG’s Next Report on Eritrea

Here is a fabrication worthy of your attention. It is one more fake story on Eritrea that you can feature in your upcoming report and please do not disappoint us. In the past, you never found a fake story on Eritrea you didn’t like or milk to the maximum to tar the young and independent-minded nation of Eritrea and we expect you to do same with this newfound bounty of fakery. It has all the qualities you like in an effective fabrication: a lot of fake details to give it an air of authenticity, names of actual places to reinforce the lies it intends to convey, the fingerprints of the professional lying operatives and their enablers most of whom you met before in Addis Ababa, Nairobi, and other capitals. All in all, it is ready made for your next report on Eritrea.

OEA Calls on the UN Security Council to lift 5-year old Unjust Sanctions

As the leaked U.S. diplomatic cables clearly show, Resolution 1907 (2009) was incubated in the U.S. and hatched in Ethiopia. Though the pretext for the unjust sanctions was to “serve” peace and security in Somalia, as the past five years have made it clear, punishing innocent Eritrea based on false premises has neither brought peace to Somalia nor security to the Horn of Africa. Eritrea, as a nation that has faced its fair share of destabilization attempts by foreign religious extremists, is the most reliable partner the UN can have for peace and security in the Horn of Africa. It deserves the Security Council’s encouragement and positive engagement, definitely not sanctions based on lies. In addition, the UN Security Council, as one of the guarantors of the Algiers Agreement, has an obligation to compel Ethiopia to immediately and unconditionally vacate the sovereign Eritrean territories it is illegally occupying, including the town of Badme.

OEA Calls on President Obama to lift 5-year old Unjust Sanctions

As members of the Organization of Eritrean Americans (OEA), we would like to call upon your administration to lift the two UN Security Council Resolutions 1907 (2009) and 2023 (2011) that the US helped impose sanctions on the innocent people of Eritrea. It is time to do the right thing. These two resolutions were politically motivated; they were based on naked lies and fabricated stories that came out of Ethiopia, Eritrea’s archenemy. There was no rational justification to impose the sanctions in the first place, and there is even less rational explanation to maintain them now.

On 5th Anniversary, the OEA Calls on the UN and US to lift Unjust Sanctions

Tuesday, the day before Christmas Eve 2014, marks the fifth anniversary of another tragic day “that will live in infamy” in the history of the United Nations with regards to Eritrea. On December 23, 2009, Christmas Eve, the UN, led by Washington, adopted Resolution 1907 (2009), imposing sanctions on Eritrea based on groundless charges orchestrated by Eritrea’s traditional enemies, especially Ethiopia. This was a continuation of a history of UN betrayal of Eritrea and the Eritrean people. The Organization of Eritrean Americans (OEA) has called on President Barack Obama and the members of the UN Security Council to lift the unjust and illegal sanctions.

OEA Deplores UN Security Council’s Extension of Monitoring Group’s Term

OEA Statement November 4, 2014
OEA Deplores UN Security Council’s Extension of Monitoring Group’s Term

We at the Organization of Eritrean Americans (OEA) strongly deplore the UN Security Council’s decision to extend the term of the UN Somalia and Eritrea Monitoring Group and its failure to consider lifting the unjust sanctions imposed on the young African nation five years ago based on charges that have long been proven to be groundless.
